Pre-UNIKLEARN FAQ

Overview

Pre-UNIKLEARN is a bridging programme towards the UNIKLEARN programme. It is available and open for youth (aged 16 and above) with neurodevelopmental disorder who have yet to possess and need to develop the basic skills to be able to function fully in the core UNIKLEARN programme of training in vocational and employability skills.

Pre-UNIKLEARN trainees will learn basic skills to be able to function and learn the skills in the core UNIKLEARN programme of training in vocational and employability skills. These include: Executive Functioning, Sensory and Physical Communication, Interaction and Literacy Cognition, Social and Mental Health

Pre-UNIKLEARN starts anytime. The minimum enrollment of 1 year and maximum 3 years. Trainees will learn basic learn skills. After Pre-UNIKLEARN, Trainees will be able to continue to UNIKLEARN.

UNIKLEARN runs from January to December. Trainees will be training for 9 months and 3 months of internship. They will learn Pre-vocational and employability skills. After training, they will go for internship and possible employment in the future.

Pre-UNIKLEARN training days and hours are as follows: Monday – Thursday: 7:45 AM to 12:00PM (Lunch Break: 12:00pm to 1:00pm) 1:00PM to 4:30PM

Pre-UNIKLEARN trainees expected to be enrolled for a minimum of 1 year (12 training months) and a maximum of 3 years (36 training months). Pre-UNIKLEARN trainees’ progress and development will be reviewed from time-time until they meet the criteria required to be enrolled in UNIKLEARN.

Enrollment

  • Diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental disorder
  • Aged 16 & above
  • Residing in Brunei Darussalam
  • Able to commit full-time
  • Have their own transport arrangements
  • Have basic hygiene and grooming skills
  • Be able to eat and use toilet independently
  • Will not be enrolled in any other programmes for the duration of the training programme
  • Have to interest to work

The trainees and families are expected to commit to the days, hours and activities while enrolled at Pre-UNIKLEARN.

Pre-UNIKLEARN is open to youth with neurodevelopmental disorders age 16 and above. Neurodevelopmental disorders are impairments of the growth and development of the brain and/or central nervous system. In other words, a disorder of brain function that affects emotion, learning ability, self-control and memory which shows as an individual develops and grows.

UNIKLEARN Training Programme

UNIKLEARN honours national public holidays. There are session breaks that may align with school holidays or “off-days” given as and when needed.

Fees and Supervision

An-Nur Harapan raises the funds for the trainees to cover the cost of training. Once enrolled into the programme, Pre-UNIKLEARN trainees are required to pay one-time enrollment fees and affordable monthly maintenance fees.

An-Nur Harapan raises the funds for the enrolled trainees to be able to continue and commit to the programme. The families can go to the relevant government welfare channels for welfare claims.

We encourage the trainees to have lunch with their families. They are welcome to stay back if logistical arrangements are not available for the families to fetch them during lunch. Our staff and trainers are on supervisory duty throughout the day.

Trainees are required to bring their own snacks and lunches. Utensils are to be prepared from home and strictly not to be shared with other trainees or trainers.

After UNIKLEARN

Pre-UNIKLEARN trainees will be able to continue to the UNIKLEARN programme.
